Abstract

A woman's rust colored velvet pillbox style hat. The outside of the hat is gathered velvet in long strips which are woven around the first layer of velvet. The top is a separate piece of gathered velvet. Originally belonged to Sara Isaacson Ettenson.

Abstract

The Ettenson family lived in Denver, Colorado, and the collection consists of various clothing items and hats that the family wore. There are eight women's hats, three dresses, a silk embroidered bed jacket, a man's smoking jacket, and a child's dress dating from the early 1900s to the 1960s.

Abstract A pale yellow-green hat base covered with differently shaded small green grapes made of painted glass and green, brown and red velvet leaves. One green velvet ribbon tied in a bow is also attached to the brim. Two layers of green tulle are attached to the crown of the hat and additional tulle forms the veil. Abstract

An olive green velvet hat with a base consisting of two circular wire frames that overlap. Each circular wire frame is covered with olive green knit. The base is covered with multiple olive green velvet strips that are tied in the center making them bow shaped. Over the hat structure is a large square of open weave tulle in a matching green that forms a veil over the face. The label reads: ''Hollywood Denver''. Abstract A woman's pillbox style hat covered with small bird feathers in turquoise, red, white and black. The middle of hat does not have feathers. There is an aqua-blue colored velvet bow in the front. An uneven aqua colored tulle covers the entirety of the hat and it forms a veil across the front. Abstract

Pink wide-weave veil whimsy hat shaped into a bowled heart to fit on top of the head. A large pink velour bow is glued to the crown of the hat with a circle backing on the underneath of the hat to hold it in place. The knot of hte bow is located at the inward point of the top of hte heart with the arms stretching to the edges. The hat is 33cm wide at its widest point and 26cm deep (from the inward point to the outer edge). The bow is 31cm wide at the arms and 18cm top-to-bottom.
