Contains 38 scripts of melodramas assembled by B.A. Bergman, manager of the Crescent Comedy Company (also known as the Crescent Stock Company), based in Chicago. The working scripts (containing dialogue, stage directions and music cues) were used for performances in Chicago, Illinois and on road tours, chiefly in Michigan.

Abstract Mary Coyle Chase (1907-1981) wrote plays as well as two novels for children. She became an author in Denver after working as a reporter for the Rocky Mountain News for 14 years. Her most beloved play was Harvey, a fantasy of a convivial tippler and his imaginary six foot white rabbit named Harvey, which won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1945. Abstract

Patients in costume at the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS). They may have been part of a party or play. The JCRS was a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients that was founded in 1904 by a group of immigrant Jewish workingmen along with the support of several leading physicians and rabbis in Denver, Colorado. The sanatorium was located on West Colfax Avenue just outside of Denver.
