Mr. Melick was born March 30, 1910 in Williams, Arizona. He was educated at Williams High School, the University of Arizona, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Melick returned as a chest surgeon in 1981, and prior to that was a professor of surgery at the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona.
