Abstract Deborah Howard is an Associate Professor and Head of Painting Program at the University of Denver. After a discussion on racial stereotypes and aging in a Figure Painting course Howard was teaching, she began to develop her Portraits of Child Holocaust Survivors project and settled on drawing as the media for the project. Abstract Dorothy (Dottie) Bernheim Shipman was born in Pueblo, CO in 1918 to Isadore Bernheim and Edith Weil Bernheim David. She was the great-grandaughter of Clara Goldsmith Weil: the first Jewish baby girl born in Colorado. Abstract

2 pages typed letter with Spring Valley Wine Co. letterhead from Aaron Shapiro to Dr. Spivak, explaining to him that the Jewish Benevolent Society requested Tillie Gleaner to be admitted at the sanatorium. He says her husband came crying to his office saying she was very sick and wandering the streets of Denver. Letter is signed by A. Shapiro.
