Abstract Henry Augustus Buchtel served as Chancellor of the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado from 1899-1920. He started his career as a Methodist minister; served as pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, Denver. During his tenure at the University of Denver, he raised funds to cover the University's debt, doubled student enrollment, and oversaw the construction of the Library (funded by Andrew Carnegie), the Gymnasium, Science Hall, and Memorial Chapel (later named Buchtel Chapel). Abstract

Charles Miller was secretary of the Jewish Consumptives Relief Society (JCRS). The Jewish Consumptives Relief Society Collection opened in 1904 (in now Lakewood, Colorado) as a sanatorium for tuberculosis sufferers. It operated until 1954 when it changed its focus to cancer research and became the American Medical Center. contains programs, photos, and scrapbooks related to Charles Miller from circa 1920 through 1958.

Abstract

Collection consists of commercial semi-glossy photographs pasted into four albums half-bound in leather, with raised spines and gilt stamping. Most are captioned with place or building name in white lettering (from black ink on the negative) with some captions on the album page handwritten in pencil.

Abstract

Congregation Zera Israel (the Descendants of Israel) was organized on May 1, 1921 in a storefront, as a Lithuanian Orthodox synagogue. It was one of the Orthodox synagogues of West Denver. Rabbi Arthur L. Fine became the leader in 1979 and Morris B. Sapper and Julius Berger were presidents of the congregation. The collection contains Articles of Incorporation, Scrapbooks and Photographs, Events and Memorials.

Dana Ruzickova Papers

Abstract

This collection contains a scrapbook created by Dana Ruzickova during 1983-1984. It was determined that this scrapbook belongs to Dana due to a large number of photographs of her; there are some of her injured, with a notation that indicates she was preparing for a period of "TV and boredom." There are also photographs of her trip to Denmark. To cross-check, the K-book from 1983 was consulted for photographs of the 1983 tennis team.
