Alta Merle Ricks Papers
Alta Merle Ricks (1905-2005) was a benefactress for the Ricks School of Gifted Children.Her generosity supported the Ricks Center building project and an endowment fund. She was a regular visitor to the school and attended many events. This collection contains items collected and created by Ricks, unconnected to the school, including family photographs, personal paintings, and various trophies and awards.
Arches with blue sky Scene Panel, circa 1970
Framed gouache watercolor painting, with pencil sketch visible underneath paint, of a scene with three arches with twisted Corinthian columns; ionic columns line the sides. The center arch is coffered. Arches and columns are painted yellow. Lower right-hand corner signed "Lowenstein." Sticker on the back of frame says "Panel 3." It is presumed to be a set design.

Box 3, Paintings/Star Registry, 1995
Box 3 contains two (2) framed works of art and a framed document from the International Star Registry, designating a star in Alta Merle Ricks' name in 1995. Paintings were created by Alta Ricks and kept at the Ricks Center for Gifted Children. One is a landscape, portraying a cabin in a field with a tree in the foreground. Another is a landscape portraying a field, with most of the painting being a cloudy sky.
