Abstract

This box contains (3) CCOHA flower girl dress from 1988-1991. The two 1988 dresses are blue and pink floral cotton with puff sleeves. These dresses were worn by Wendy Ann Kullgreen Wilkinson and Jennifer Clanahan. The 1989 dress was worn by Kim Fuller and is a blue, pink, and yellow floral cotton with a sweatheart neckline. The 1991 dress was worn by Molly Dunbar Larkin and is peach satin with a petticoat attached.

This box contains (2) CCOHA flower girl dress from 1992-1993. The 1992 dress was worn by Ashley Clanahan and is floral cotton with puff sleeves. The 1993 dress is an off-shoulder floral cotton and was loaned by Pam Powell to CCOHA. It is not clear if the dress belonged to Pam Powell.

This box contains (2) CCOHA flower girl dress from 1994. The dresses are off-shoulder and floral. One dress was worn by Laurel Miller. The other dress is from an unidentified source and contains a large petticoat with it.

This box contains (1) CCOHA flower girl dress from 1996 and (1) dress from 1998. The 1996 dress belonged to Michele Kathlien Massey. The dress is a floral cotton with cap sleeves and contains a white petticoat. The 1998 dress is a sleveless white cotton with a purple floral pattern.

This box contains (2) CCOHA flower girl dress from 2009 and 2014. The 2009 dress was worn by Elizabeth Deline. It is ivory with a black floral print and black sash. The 2014 dress was worn by Elizabeth Brooke Smedley and is a light purple chiffon.

This box contains (2) CCOHA flower girl dress that were not accompanied with any dates or donors. Dress one is an ivory dress with a floral overlay and a large bow on the back. Dress two is a white dress with cap sleeves, a blue flower overlay, and a blue sash. Dress three is stained and no longer white.

Abstract The Flower Girls were a fundraising tradition started by Anne Evans with the first Central City Opera Festival season in 1932. Debutantes from prominent Denver families would be selected by a "secret committee" to act as hostesses of the opera's opening nights, handing out nosegay bouquets to opera-goers to throw onstage as the permiere performance curtain closed.
