Abstract Henry Lowenstein's travel visa. The visa is a light green bound book with dark green text on cover stating "Travel Document (Agreement of 15th October, 1946)" with the same text in French underneath. The earliest stamp in the book is from April 17, 1947 but the printed agreement date on the first page is October 15, 1946. The visa expired on October 3, 1948. Hyman Zadek Salomon , 1969

Abstract

Hyman Z. Salomon was born in 1832 in Posen, Prussia. He moved to what was then the city of Auraria, now Denver, in 1859 and is claimed to be the first Jewish settler in Colorado. He married Cecilia Joel and the couple had two daughters. Hyman originally set up as a mercantile man but he was also involved with the Capitol Hydraulic Company, the Platte River Ditch Company, and several other businesses in Denver along with his brother, Fred Z. Salomon. Hyman passed away on November 21, 1897.

Abstract Jacob Fleischer (1846/7-?, Ancestry.com) was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States between 1865 and 1870. He was naturalized in 1871, in Morgan County, Illinois. In 1882, Fleischer married Rosa Harthleimer (sp?) Fleischer in Colorado. Jacob purchased a parcel of seven lots in Denver on what is now stretching from Alameda north down Leyden. Abstract Julius Basinski authorted 22 pages of reminisences about his life as a merchant in the Montana mining fields. Born in 1844 in Germany, Basinski emigrated in 1866 and dealt in cigars, candy, butter, eggs, calico, and other provisions in various Montana communities, iincluding Helena, Bozeman, and Miles City in the Yellowstone Valley. Abstract Alexander Kagan was born in Paris, France in 1906 to Russian parents. At the age of 14, Alexander began work as a fabric and jewelry designer. He came to the United States in 1922 with his mother Chana (Anna) and his brother Haim Persah (Paul). He worked as a fabric designer in New York and in 1930 he became a US citizen.
