Abstract Louis Cohn (1837-1899) was born in Breslau, Prussia (now Wroclaw, Poland), and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1861. He traveled the Santa Fe Trail to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and opened a general merchandise store in the early 1860s. Cohn moved to San Luis, Colorado, in the early 1870s, and in 1876 married widow Juanita Mary Ruperta Valdez Cohn (1855-1895). Louis J. Sinow (1910-1999) was a violinist and composor, famous for his composition "Illinois, Illinois, Illinois" which was recommended by the Governor of Illinois to be used prior to the "Know Your Illinois" radio broadcast in the 1950s. He and his family moved to Denver in the 1960s where he performed locally. He died in California.
