Kenneth R. Gottesfeld Papers
Abstract
Kenneth R. Gottesfeld was a pioneer in the development of the diagnostic ultrasound method in obstetrics and gynecology. He received his medical degree from the University of Colorado and during his residency he did research for Dr. Joseph Holmes and Dr. Horace Thompson, Denver pioneers in diagnostic medical ultrasound. He travelled to England and studied with Dr. Ian Donald, considered the founder of obstetrical sonography. Kenneth Gottesfeld was credited with the initial sonographic description of the placenta. Dr. Gottesfeld was a full professor in obstetrics and gynecology and concurrently in radiology at the University of Colorado Health. Kenneth Gottesfeld was killed in a skiing accident in 1984. Collection contains curriculum vitae of Kenneth R. Gottesfeld, M.D., a memorial biographical notes, correspondence, conference materials, medical papers, and articles related to Kenneth R. Gottesfeld from 1982 through 1984.
