Biographical / Historical
Kappa Sigma is one of the five largest international collegiate fraternities and was founded in 1869 at the University of Virginia. It's motto is "Bononia Docet" which translates as "Bologna Teaches" and references the story of a secret society of students at the University of Bologna created between 1395 and 1400. Kappa Sigma founders are said to have been inspired by the traditions of this order in Bologna. Kappa Sigma made the decision to leave the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) in 2002, along with Phi Delta Theta.
The University of Denver chapter, Beta-Omicron, was founded in 1902 and lasted until 2017. As of 2022, the chapter is inactive.
