Rose Weinberg Collection
Abstract
Rose Weinberg, the daughter of Russian immigrants, was born in Denver, Colorado on September 18, 1904 and died in Denver in September 22, 2000. She was buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. She graduated from Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in 1934. Rose Weinberg was a registered nurse in California beginning in 1943 and served as an ensign in the Nurse Corps at the United States Naval hospital in San Francisco, California during World War II. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia University in 1951. She was a district supervisor with the Boston Visiting Nurses for 11 years and director of nursing services of the Newton Heath services for three years. She then became executive director of the Visiting Nurse Assocition of Greater Lynn, Massachusetts.

The collection contains documents, a book on Mount Sinai, scrapbooks, photographs, Naval and family documents, and oral histories.

Materials for this collection were used for an exhibit from October 2018 - May 2019 in the Anderson Academic Commons. Materials included items related to Rose Weinberg's military service, including: the brown scrapbook found in B394.03.0002; 1 page of a scrapbook found in B394.03.0003.0002; Weinberg's navy dog tags, B394.02.0003.00001; and the letter from the White House, in B394.02.0001.0002.
