Abstract

Exterior view of Chamberlin Observatory on the University Park Campus of the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado, with a dirt road (later Warren Avenue) in the foreground and a farmhouse in the background. The observatory is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is named for Humphrey B. Chamberlin, a local land developer who donated $50,000 toward the project. The observatory was designed by Denver astronomer Herbert A. Howe, and the architect was Robert Sawyers Roeschlaub. Howe based the design on the Goodsell Observatory in Northfield, Minnesota.
