Written on back of photographic print: ''Buildings-Alumni Office 1. [Underneath written notes] Bldgs 1/52. L to R Francis Van Derber, Randolph McDonough Dir, Alumni Relations. This house was alumni house at the time. Van was there because this was once the Kappa Sigma House. Later torn down and replaced by Gamma Phi Beta House. At this time the Dept. of Development was on 2nd floor. Also Bud Mayer and news service on 2nd fl. Van had been president of Kappa Sigma locally & nationally. He paid for remodelling of alumni quarters of this house. It was called the Van Derber Alumni House as a result. 2211 S. Josephine.''
