For the record. Trains & travel, 1968 January 29
Abstract
Senator Peter H. Dominick (R-Colo.) answers questions from Colorado constituents during a segment of his For the record radio program on January 29, 1968 in Washington, D.C. Sen. Dominick discusses recent attempts by the executive branch to achieve a balance of payments with Western Europe by assessing taxes on U.S. citizens traveling overseas. His opinion is that Congress will try to regulate tourist travel through customs duties and passport fees. Dominick also talks about recent passenger train discontinuances on unprofitable lines caused by the withdrawal of railway post office cars and notes that there will be public hearings before the Interstate Commerce Commission on the issue.
