Abstract
Elizabeth McBride talks about the University Park area of Denver, Colorado, when she lived in the neighborhood from 1939 to 1942. She discusses businesses in the area, local transportation, and hearing airplanes on training flights based at Lowry Air Force Base, Colorado. She also talks about her husband's coal business including the cost of heating a home during the winter and how she and her husband delivered coal to their neighbors.

The series consists of 50 oral histories collected by Barry Matchett during 1986. The interviewees were all persons who lived in the University Park neighborhood, and concerned their memories of growing up and living in the neighborhood over a number of years.

Title supplied by cataloger. ||Interview conducted at 1901 S. St. Paul Street, Denver, Colorado on May 10, 1986. ||Participants: Stephen Crummer ; Elizabeth McBride. ||Elizabeth B. McBride lived in the University Park area of Denver, Colorado, from 1939 to 1942 and later moved back to the neighborhood in 1965. McBride attended Grant Junior High School and South High School. She graduated from the University of Denver in 1929. She was a schoolteacher at Randall School, where she taught chemistry, biology, and general science. Her husband, Charles B. McBride, worked in the wholesale coal business. During World War II, McBride worked at the Denver Ordnance Plant in Jefferson County, Colo., as a manufacturing timekeeper and her husband also worked at the plant as a process engineer.
