Initially established as The Sister Circle (April through November 2009), the Association of Sisters in Higher Education (ASHE)was formed at the University of Denver in (March?) 2010. ASHE (ah-SHAY -- a Yoruba word meaning power, command, and authority) holds the mission "to support, empower, and mentor Black women at the University of Denver by honoring who we are through cultural fellowship, enrighment, and an exchange of ideas."
