Abstract
Dr. Richardson talks with John Bury about her education, her experience as a teacher in the late 1940's and her subsequent acceptance of the position as the Director of Elementary Education under Superintendent Clif Harkins from 1956-57. She also discusses her views of curriculum development in public schools, the State Department and Superintendent's relationships with the school districts and counties. She expresses her support for public schools to support minority, bilingual and elementary education. She also expounds on her philosophy of education, discussing the need for teachers to be constantly progressive and up-to-date in their methods of teaching as well as to let students think for themselves.
