Box 1: Black Lives Matter Protest Materials, 2016
Abstract
Box 1 contains objects from the Black Lives Matter protest and die-in at the University of Denver on April 4, 2016. Box 1 also contains a folder of campus correspondence (three letters) regarding defacement of Black Lives Matter statements on The Free Speech Wall in September, 2016. Darren Harvey and Carolyn Coles were members of BGSA and Graduate Student Government, and are included in the correspondence on this matter.

Scope and Contents
The Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA) at the University of Denver (DU) was founded on 18 February 2011. As an organization, the students work to bring awareness to issues and events that impact the Black/African American and DU communities, and to provide support for one another as they progress through their experiences as graduate and professional students at a predominantly white institution. The collection consists of photographs, posters, and other papers created and/or collected by the organization.
