Biographical / Historical
Fran Page is a founding member and current artistic/executive director of the Aspen Dance Connection created in 1978 to bring dance to communities on the Western Slope with the goal of “having every child experience the joy and vitality of dance.” In 2005, ADC’s Tour Dance Company (a semi-professional dance group at CSU Dance Division) started a program of lecture demonstrations for K-12 schools on the western slope. This annual program has reached over 4000 children, benefiting both young audiences and CSU student performers. Some artists who participated in this program: March 2014--Weber Dance from Boston to schools in Aspen, Grand Junction, Paonia; November 2014 & March 2016--Logo Ligo African Drum and Dance from Boulder to schools in Aspen, Grand Junction, Paonia and Crawford; January 2016--Staycee Pearl Dance Project from Pittsburgh to schools in Aspen and Carbondale. As noted by Chung-Fu Chang, “She continues to make dance understandable and accessible to all for the past 30 years.”
