Abstract
Lakewood's West Colfax Avenue extends from Sheridan Aavenue on the east to Youngfield Street on the west. In 1912, the street included: JCRS sanitarium, opened in 1904,as a haven for sufferers of tuberculosis until 1954; Abe and Goldie Cohen's general store featuring household staples, penny candy, and slot machines; Golden Hill Cemetery, opened by JCRS in 1908 for patients who succumbed to tuberculosis.
