Edwin Sears Materials

Edwin Sears was born in Germany and studied law at the University of Berlin, where he was Albert Einstein's secretary for two years. He later became a law professor there but was forced to leave his position under the Nazis because he was Jewish and fled to the US in 1939. He was a professor of law at the University of Denver from 1943 to 1951, and later an attorney in the Denver area. He helped prosecute Nazi war criminals at the Nuremberg Trails. This collection includes correspondence between Sears and Einstein, documents related to the 1944 plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, and documents related to the Nuremberg trials.
