Scope and Contents

The Historic Bank Notes Collection consists of an assortment of bank notes, bonds and a share certificate. Some were issued by state banks across the United States, some were issued by the Confederate States of America which were found by the Union Army near the end of the Civil War. The Collection also contains a letter from the Treasury Department transferring the notes to the University of Denver with an explanation of the transfer, and a separately donated personal scrap book containing mid-twentieth century bank notes from around the world.

Arrangement

Series 1 is unarranged, in that the notes are treated as individual items.
