Biography

Doctor Maurice Katzman was born in Russia but was brought to Denver when he was an infant. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1917 and received his medical degree from the University of Colorado in 1919. He married Leah Schmitt in 1923. Doctor Katzman specialized in cardiology and was one of the leading cardiologists in the Midwest. He was commended by President Harry S. Truman during the Korean War for special services to the Army. He was an associate clinical professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Katzman served as chief of staff of St. Joseph and Rose Hospitals. Maurice Katzman was a member of medical associations, B’nai B’rith, and Temple Emanuel. He died in Denver March 16, 1970 at the age of 75.
