Biography
Bess Gorden Hayutin was born in Russia and immigrated with her mother to the U.S. at the age of three, to follow her father. Her father, Reverend Jacob Gorden, had established himself as a mohel and schochet, or ritual slauterer of kosher meat in Denver's West Side Jewish community before the rest of his family joined him. She married Sam Hayutin and had two sons, Arnold and Sheldon.
