Abstract The Central City Opera House Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1931 to manage and preserve the Central City Opera House located in Central City, Colorado and to direct annual summer opera festivals. Heirs of Peter McFarlane, a Central City businessman who owned the Opera House prior to 1931, donated the building to the University of Denver in 1931. File folder contains designs for the 1947 production 'Fidelio' by Donald Oenslager, sketches for the redesigning of the dressing rooms in 1949, designs for the 1956 production of 'Tosca' by Dr. Elemer Nagy, an unidentified design (possible 1948 production of 'Cosi Fan Tutte' by Donald Oenslager) and the 1959 production of 'Die Fledermaus.

Central City Submarine, 1944

Abstract

Black and white photograph of the mountain submarine pulled from the bottom of Lake Missouri in 1944. Submarine was constructed by Rufus Owens and had it's maiden voyage in 1898. WWII peaked interest of submarines and a Central City local entrepreneure decided to raise it. The submarine is on display at the Central City Museum in Central City, Colorado.
