Abstract

Group of men and women standing in front of a large wood fence. Milton Anfenger is eighth from the right in the front. He is standing sideways and is smoking a cigar. The photograph is on page 172 of Milton Anfenger's scrapbook. He belonged to a number of organizations, including B'nai B'rith and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Milton Anfenger was also a Colorado state senator and an attorney.

Milton Anfenger scrapbook containing newspaper clippings and programs about Colorado Elks Club and his ownership of the Denver Bears baseball club from 1923 to 1932. He was known as "Mr. Baseball" in Denver. A member of Elks Lodge #17, he was elected Exalted Ruler in 1913.

Abstract

Milton L. Anfenger was an attorney, Colorado state senator, humanitarian, and civic leader who lived in Denver, Colorado. He was president of National Jewish Hospital and the Denver Bears Baseball Club. He was a member of the Elks, Masons, Shriners, and B'nai B'rith. The papers include newspapers, newspaper clippings, invitations, photographs, and scrapbooks.

Abstract

Contains newspaper articles with obituaries and memorials the Intermountain Jewish News and Denver and New York newspapers. The obituaries mention that Milton Anfenger was president of the National Jewish Hospital for seven terms, was the owner of the Denver Bears Baseball team, and was involved in many other organizations. He received his LL.B in 1896 from Stanford University, where he was a roommate of Herbert Hoover.

Peggy Marolt discusses growing up in Aspen, Colorado and on the Marolt Ranch also known as Midland Ranch. She describes daily life, household items, her family, buildings around the ranch and the old Holden Lixiviation Works, businesses around Aspen, and orgaizations she was involved in. She also goes into detail on crops raised, livestock and machinery used on the ranch. She talks about various schools, churches and special events from her childhood.
