Abstract The history of the Saliman family in the Denver area dates to the immigration of the family patriarch Paul Michael Saliman (known as Michael.) As did most Jewish families, Michael and his wife Bessie Radetsky Saliman settled on the west side near Sloan's Lake in 1886. Abstract

Hillel Academy of Denver is an Orthodox Jewish day school (yeshiva ketana) in which religious and secular instruction takes place for preschool through 8th-grade students. It was begun in 1953 and is part of a network of Orthodox day schools in the United States. The collection contains meeting minutes, administrative notes, scrapbooks, Annual Dinner programs, and appointment calendars of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Hillel Academy of Denver, Colorado, from 1963 through 1990.

Jacob Gorden Papers

Abstract

Jacob Gorden who was a Schohet, Talmudic scholar, and later a mohel, emigrated to Denver in 1914 from Kolki,Russia to join his uncle, Velvel Heller. Soon Jacob had saved enough to bring his wife Charlotte and daughter Bess over, and the family settled on the Denver's west side. Two more daughters and a son were born in the family. Collection contains papers and notes related to Jacob Gorden from 1920, documents, and digitized photographs from circa 1900 to 1969.

Abstract Lillian Fogel Rubin was born in Denver, Colorado on August 17, 1922 to parents who came from Maczyv, Poland through Ellis Island in 1904. Her parents and aunts and uncles were Orthodox Jews. Lillian Fogel's mother belonged to the Sisterhood at the Hebrew Educational Alliance and the Auxiliaries of JCRS and Beth Israel Hospital. Abstract Rabbi Charles E. Hillel Kauvar was a rabbi for 69 years at the Beth Ha Medrosh Hagodol (The Great House of Learning) Synagogue in Denver, Colorado. He was also a professor of rabbinical literature at the University of Denver for 43 years and helped establish the Center for Judaic Studies at the University. Abstract Rabbi Yehuda Idel Idelson was born in Navardok, Lithuania in 1874 and married Hadassah Bloch in 1896. Rabbi Idelson arrived in Denver, Colorado in about 1901, an acclaimed Torah scholar and commentator, to become the rabbi at Congreation Tifereth Israel. The small synagogue was incorporated by Polish Jews in 1901 and was located under the Colfax Viaduct in the east European Jewish immigrant neighborhood. Rayor Family Torah Ark Curtains

Abstract The Jewish community in Cheyenne, Wyoming, committed to building a new synagogue around 1950. The leaders of the community, including Bernard Leon Rayor, equally provided the funds for the building. When Mt. Sinai Congregation was completed, B.L.
